The Laboratory of Thermal Turbomachinery (LTT) is a research and teaching department at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The research done in LTT is focused on the fields of:

• thermal turbomachinery
• thermal power plants

In the scope of teaching activities LTT is a part of Thermal power engineering lectureship.

One of the most important research topics in LTT are the flow calculations and design of gas turbines, steam turbines and turbocompressors. Plant related area of expertise includes power plants with steam or gas turbines, combined-cycle power plants (CCGT), as well as combined heat-and-power plants (CHP).


Therefore, the main activities of LTT are:

• development of methods for the analysis and design of gas turbine, steam turbine and compressor flows
• developments of tools for airfoil cascade and blade design
• aerodynamic design and optimization of turbines and compressors using in-house and commercial CFD codes
• development of computer programs for heat-balance calculation; optimization of power plant cycles and individual components (condensers, feed water heaters, etc.)
• development of systems for online monitoring of steam turbine plants operation
• consulting services, preparation of technical solutions and techno-economic analysis in the field of thermal power engineering
• guarantee and performance thermal testing of steam turbines and steam turbine plants
